Embellishing Mother’s Day Layouts

One of the sweetest Mother’s Day gifts I ever received was a scrapbook layout featuring various pictures of my daughter and a slew of her homemade art projects. My sister-in-law did an amazing job creating a photo collage using my daughter’s artsy masterpieces to embellish the page, along with several cute quotes detailing why she loves her mommy so much. Sniff, sniff. I love that layout. Fortunately, the page design is easy to duplicate for a mother of one or many. Around here the holidays are all about the kids. As I look back at seasonal scrapbooks I’ve made since giving birth, there are very few layouts that don’t include at least few rugrats running around making merry in some form or another. Even more telling about my scrapbooking technique is the fact that most of the pages that include children also feature quotes or inspirational sayings that tie into the kid-centered design. Say It With Flowers

Yesterday my second grader selected the Valentine’s Day cards and treats she plans to gift to her classmates in about, oh, three weeks or so. Given that Wal-Mart, Target and Walgreens have been selling Valentine’s Day paraphernalia since December 27th, I figured we’re far from ahead of the curve. Oh Baby, Baby!

Twins! One of the moms from my scrapbooking group recently gave birth to healthy twin girls. I finally got to meet them last week. They are much tinier than I had anticipated, but are still cute as can be. Despite being overwhelmed by the constant feedings and diaper changing, the twins’ mom is doing something I would never consider attempting three weeks post partum: She’s piecing together the twins’ first scrapbook.
