Scrapbooking Blogs: Getting Started

Scrapbooking has taken itself to a new level of technology with digital scrapbooking. After digital scrapbooking, blogging became the new thing. While a blog can be a type of online scrapbook, it is primarily used to share information with others. You must be reading this because you want to start your own scrapbooking blog. How do I start my own scrapbooking blog? The first thing you have to consider, is if you have the finances to own your own website domain title. If you want to go about it this route, you will need to find a domain name that … Continue reading

Working With Scraps: Part One

I think most scrapbookers have a pile of scraps that have accumulated in their scrapbook room. Everything from paper scraps, to sticker remnants, ribbons, fiber and so much more. Thanks to ingenious organizing, I now have all mine separated in my scrapbook room and they are in nicely organized containers (something I will discuss in another entry). However, I really have a lot – probably too much. Since I tend to be on the frugal side in my everyday life, I’m trying to carry it over to my scrapbooking and crafting as well. The most often heard piece of advice, … Continue reading

Get Rid Of Technology Once In a While

As parents we are all looking for ways to keep our children busy. As single parents the evenings are short and there is so much to do, we need something to occupy the kids so we don’t feel quite so guilty for working on the report for work or doing another three loads of laundry and scrubbing the bathroom. Unfortunately, for most of us, the easiest entertainers are electronic. We plop the kids in front of a movie or allow them some extra video game time so we can get done what we need to do. I’m not saying that … Continue reading

Putting Together a Scrapbook Night

Have you ever wanted to accomplish something in particular but you just can’t get going? There are so many projects and things around my house that I want to do but can’t seem to muster the motivation. Sometimes that happens in the world of scrapbooking. We have all of the supplies, we have plenty of pictures to tackle but we are lacking motivation. Well I have the cure-all for that one. Put together a scrapbooking night in your home. Invite some other scrapbookers over, provide a light snack and some beverages and get out those supplies. It’s a way to … Continue reading

Dinosaur Fun

My daughter wants to celebrate her 6th birthday with a huge dinosaur-theme party. The only problem is that she won’t be turning six until late next spring. That’s an eternity for a kindergartner. In an effort to make the wait a bit more tolerable, I’ve been collecting dinosaur-theme crafts for her to make on the weekends. Some of them will be used as party decorations while others are being used as tests to see if they are appropriate projects to make with a dozen or so 5 year olds. Here’s what we’ve been working on: PAPER PLATE DINO Materials: Paper … Continue reading

Scrapbooking Week in Review 3-22-07 thru 4-01-07

This week in scrapbooking kicked off with the anniversary celebrating my one year with www.families.com in the scrapbooking blog. I took a look back at some of what was being talked about year ago, and took a back to basics approach to my articles this week. On Sunday, March 22, which was the actual anniversary, I showed you what was posted a year ago in A Year Of Scrapbooking. Many journaling related articles were posted at that time, and more were included throughout the year. Most scrapbookers and probably several non-scrapbookers know me as the Journaling Queen (amongst other creative … Continue reading

Another Year Of Scrapbooking 1

About a week ago, I posted an article inspired by my one year anniversary writing for the www.families.com scrapbooking blog – A Year Of Scrapbooking. It was exciting to go back and see what interesting articles I was writing a year ago. Mostly about journaling on your layouts, but there were also some really great informative articles posted last year, that I wish I could duplicate, but instead I will just send you there to read them. Memorabilia: What To Collect was the start of a series of articles, that I feel I could write loads more on. There is … Continue reading

Thera Pea Dolls: At home Protective Play That Won’t Break the Bank.

Thera Pea Dolls are a tool I use to teach Protective Behaviors. In my role as a child therapist and Protective Behavior consultant, I am always on the look out for different ideas to present as teaching utensils for parents to use with their own children if they want to. I like to suggest protective play resources that are either free or take little expense to make. One of the favored resources I use is Thera Pea Dolls. The dolls are simply a stuffed body outline that can be written on, or drawn upon, for numerous at home psycho-educational purposes. … Continue reading
