My Scrapbooking Week In Review- October 4th-October 9th

This week has been a great week for me for scrapbooking. The previous week, my dear daughter had a horrible stomach bug, and not much was done in the way of scrapbooking or doing anything else really except taking care of her! I am glad that is over, and that she is feeling better. So, this week, I wanted to jump right in and get some scrapbooking done again. I got several layouts done for my scrapbooks and had a lot of fun writing about the following topics: October 4th-Confessions of a Messy Scrapbooker A fun post about my scrap … Continue reading

Helping Children Get Started With Scrapbooking

Although scrapbooking is a hobby seen mostly with adults, many children and teenagers enjoy creating their own unique books. I have always tried to set aside photographs that I want to keep but might not incorporate into a scrapbook, or I always made sure I had doubles on hand. These were pictures that my children could use to create their own special scrapbooks. Don’t think that it’s just girls who will enjoy this activity. When my children were younger, they put together an entire book of their own. My son was in the 3rd grade at the time. Most children, … Continue reading

Scrapbooking Books make for great inspiration

I often find that every few scrapbooks I create I start to get a little stagnant on new and different ideas for creating them. I’ve come of with lots of great ideas that ‘work” but doing them over and over again seems to make those things that looked amazing when they were first created start to look a little ordinary. In talking this weekend with a scrapbooking friend, she tools me she likes to pick up a new scrapbooking book every few months or so for new inspiration. Her and a few friends also share the books, so they can … Continue reading

Scrapbooking Supply Finds at Garage Sales

Ever the princess of frugal, I am always on the look out for good bargains and deals at garage sales, that I can actually use. I avoid purchasing anything if I don’t have an immediate use for it, or I cannot see the long term benefit of buying it. Recently I have attended many garage sales with scrapbooking supplies, and have been very fortunate to pick up some awesome deals on things I will most definitely use. That seems not only frugal to me, but a fun find as well. I got pretty lucky on the first weekend we attempted … Continue reading

The weather has been somewhat more cooperative this week, but still we are plagued with rain that seems as if it won’t quit on some days. Scrapbooking Your Way Through History: Step by Step Directions

Recently I shared that we were scrapbooking our way through history in lieu of doing lapbooks. I tried lapbooks but honestly, it just didn’t work for me. I have already posted about materials you need and I promised to give step by step directions. . .so here they are! Step 1 Gather Your Learning Materials Decide what you’re studying and what you think is important. This is a “response” project meaning that you do it at the end of the unit … Continue reading

Scrapbooking Your Way Through History: Introduction and Materials You Need

This is our latest pet project and I must say that it has worked substantially better for me than has lapbooking. One reason is that everything goes into a binder. At our house, this makes it much easier to store and less inviting for the twin demolition team. Another reason is that the project is not dependent on a bunch of little books–which I find difficult to store without someone getting into them before the project is over. Since it’s a binder, we actually plan to add at least one page per time period, or people group that we study, … Continue reading
