How to Create a Sketch for a Scrapbook Layout

I see sketches every where for scrapbooking layouts. They are on blogs, in challenges, swaps, contests, magazines. I was wondering, how does one go about making one of those sketches??? It might be easier than you would think. I am still learning. In fact, I just played around with it the first time last night. But, it was so much easier than I would have expected, and my computer software is pretty much ancient history. In fact, I think they have outlawed it because it is so old. But, I managed to squeak out a little pre-made sketch on my … Continue reading

Scrapbooking Books make for great inspiration

I often find that every few scrapbooks I create I start to get a little stagnant on new and different ideas for creating them. I’ve come of with lots of great ideas that ‘work” but doing them over and over again seems to make those things that looked amazing when they were first created start to look a little ordinary. In talking this weekend with a scrapbooking friend, she tools me she likes to pick up a new scrapbooking book every few months or so for new inspiration. Her and a few friends also share the books, so they can … Continue reading

Scrapbooking Supply Finds at Garage Sales

Ever the princess of frugal, I am always on the look out for good bargains and deals at garage sales, that I can actually use. I avoid purchasing anything if I don’t have an immediate use for it, or I cannot see the long term benefit of buying it. Recently I have attended many garage sales with scrapbooking supplies, and have been very fortunate to pick up some awesome deals on things I will most definitely use. That seems not only frugal to me, but a fun find as well. I got pretty lucky on the first weekend we attempted … Continue reading

Don’t Waste Your Money on Scrapbooking Magazines

It goes without saying, that if you have a very favorite scrapbooking magazine, there is nobody that should influence your decision to purchase it. Especially if it keeps your mo-jo flowing and the churning out of scrapbooking layouts. So why did I title this post this way? Scrapbooking magazines have taken a major nose dive in the past several years. I was recently cleaning out my bookshelf where I have a collection of scrapbooking magazines that should put me to shame. I While they go back all the way to the mid 90’s, I was started to see that in … Continue reading

Here is what has been going on in the scrapbooking blog this week of May 5 – 11, 2008. How to Get Great Pictures The question is often asked, “How do I get great pictures?”. Finding Fonts for Scrapbooking

Most scrapbooker’s choose to use their computer for journaling. This is usually because they do not like their own handwriting. My hope is that you will at least do a few layouts a year in your own handwriting, but at the same time, I also understand the flow and look that only a font has. I’m often asked where I get the fonts for the journaling blocks and titles that are on my scrapbook layouts. There is no set location, but I tend to watch the idea books and magazines for cute fonts and then I look them up or … Continue reading
