Get Creative With Your Memories

How many photos did you snap of your Valentine’s Day celebration? Snap-happy parents likely have dozens of pictures of their little sweethearts bouncing off the walls after ingesting hardy helpings of chocolate hearts. In addition, there are probably many couples, who took advantage of the holiday to seal the deal on their relationship, or at least make the next step from dating to engagement. So, what should you do with all those amazing memories? You could display them in a digital frame, keep them in your phone for eternity, print them out and add them to a scrapbook, or select … Continue reading

Scrapbooking Week in Review for August 13th-19th, 2007

The scrapbooking blog has always been one of the most popular blogs at families.com. That always makes me smile, since scrapbooking is probably one of my most favorite subjects in the world to talk about. I divide my time into sections so that I am equally sharing it with my family, my job (writing) and my scrapbooking. I often include my family in my scrapbooking endeavors for the simple reason that they love it too. Don’t forget to share those moments with your own families, and include your children in the layout making process. They aren’t professionals, but they will … Continue reading

What is the Deal With Creative Memories (3)?

There are huge debates everywhere about Creative Memories. Message Boards are always a huge source of negativity surrounding anything that is CM related, and the CM advocates usually come out in full force as well. But to dispel any of the myths or give credit to any of the facts, one must first understand what the complaints are/were to begin with. In the first two articles I have presented two common complaints. With this article, I will present the last common complaint I hear. Probably one of the most often debated complaints, has been that of the contraband. If you … Continue reading

What is the Deal with Creative Memories? (2)

Scrapbooking has been around a long time, which is what I discussed in the first article in this series. Creative Memories has been around since 1987 and while having thousands of devoted followers, equally has thousands of people that really dislike the name. So what is the big deal with Creative Memories anyway? Aside from their claim that they invented scrapbooking, there have been other problems with the products, and consultants from day one. This is not to say that I dislike Creative Memories at all. I am only relaying what the problems others have faced are. I do not … Continue reading

What is the Deal with Creative Memories (1)?

So what is the big deal about Creative Memories and why does everyone always seem to be asking about it all over the Internet and on Scrapbooking Message Boards? I will try to explain in a totally general way. First, Creative Memories is a home-business selling scrapbooking supplies. They are, I believe, the first company to actually offer a home based scrapbooking business. This is important to realize because it comes into play later when we discuss what the big deal is. As a leader in the scrapbooking home-based business, one of the draws to creative memories is the fact … Continue reading

Leap to Help Frogs

If I lived in the Orlando area I would definitely buy a Walt Disney World annual pass. I’d especially consider doing so once I had children, and no, it isn’t so that I could drag a bunch of toddlers around the Magic Kingdom all of the time. Or try to get myself locked in there overnight to live out some childhood fantasies. Well, it wouldn’t be just for that. It’d be so I could play Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom. All right, I kid, though only sort of. No, I’d get a pass, and ones for my as-yet fictional children, … Continue reading

Memorials For Loved Ones Are Now Done Online

Genealogists may know a lot about their ancestors. There are many ways to collect facts about when that person lived, or died, or got married. It’s not as easy to discover interesting stories about that person’s life, or how your relative touched the lives of others. Unless, of course, someone has created a digital memorial for that person. This is a growing trend. Traditionally, if you want to know more about a particular ancestor’s or relative’s life, you would attempt to locate certain types of sources. You can learn a lot about a person from reading his or her obituary. … Continue reading

Character Dining at Disneyland

When I was a child I was terrified of costumed characters. For some reason Halloween didn’t bother me, but I didn’t want to go near Santa Claus’ lap at the mall, to my parents’ relief (it saved them the long line wait). What frightened me the most, however, were costumed characters at amusement parks. One of my earliest memories is running in fear from the parade at Sesame Place when I was only about three. Trips to Hershey Park had me breaking out into a nervous sweat should one of the giant anthropomorphic candy bars wander near me. On second … Continue reading
