Swapping and Sharing Ideas with the Ex

Much of what we talk about here in the Single Parents blog in regards to our exes or our child’s other parent is how to cope and survive the challenges. It does not have to be all bad or all struggles, however, and if we are co-parenting with someone—sharing and swapping parenting ideas may be a helpful, productive activity. The truth is, if you are both involved in parenting your child or children, you may both have some reasonable insight. It can be tough to admit, especially if you are the primary parent, but other people might have some ideas … Continue reading

Swaps – What’s the Point?

Swaps have been around for awhile, and depending on your hobby, they are the same only changing for the medium or craft or hobby that you have. They are a terrific way to get more scrapbooking done, or card making done or whatever you might choose. The best part is, you get to choose what you participate in, and what you don’t participate in. Finding swaps is actually fairly easy, since most scrapbooking related message boards have a crop of individuals who love hosting swaps. Finding a swap you want to participate in, might be a bit harder. You need … Continue reading

The Don’ts of Swap Participation

We have been talking about swap participation and the rules, guidelines and etiquette that goes with it. Specifically I am speaking about scrapbooking swaps, but these guidelines could be used with most any type of swap. Here are some don’ts of swap participation. Don’t: DON’T: Lose the guidelines or do your own thing unless that is part of the swap. Be sure and follow the instructions closely so that everyone is happy with the outcome of the swap. DON’T: Forget the due date. You don’t want to be the one holding up the swap, or feel like you’re going to … Continue reading

Swaps are so much fun to be a part of. They let you be creative, have fun, make new friends and get really neat things back. However, there are definitely some rules when participating in swaps. It is simply called Swap Etiquette and almost any swap you participate in, is going to be the same as far as etiquette goes. Here are some do’s of participating in swaps. Do: Read all of the rules or guidelines for that swap. Pay attention to all details and be sure and follow what the swap hostess has asked. Save the original swap guidelines … Continue reading

The Great Pet Toy Swap

Wayne is always scolding me for spoiling our pets with new toys. It’s true. I do. Murphy, Kitty, and Tabby have so many toys they could play with a different one every day for at least two weeks. (If not maybe a whole month.) But in my partial defense (I say partial because I fully admit sometimes I go overboard with the spending), every toy was bought with them in mind. This is not as obvious a statement as it might seem. What I’m getting at is I know Kitty (and now Tabby) likes to hide in things. Hence the … Continue reading

The Importance of Pregnancy Support Groups

If you’re pregnant and feeling uncertain, or even if you feel great about pregnancy/childbirth, I still have an important recommendation: try to find a support group.  Not necessarily one called “pregnancy support group,” but try to find a group of other veteran, new, or expecting moms to spend time with. The support that’s offered just from spending time with others in the same boat, or who have been through it recently, is invaluable.  A lot of the weird things about pregnancy can be less alarming if you have others to talk about them with, who can say: “oh yes, that … Continue reading

Would You Lease A Pet?
