Wednesday’s Weekly Challenge-Use Your Scraps

I recently saw a very clever way of using those leftover scraps that I loved. It involved rolling up strips of paper, and then putting them on the layout in a tube-like shape. The scrapper did a line of all different, colorful rolls of paper in a row against a white background. The effect was beautiful! Here is a link to the finished project if you are anything like me and need a visual. This was instantly one of my favorite layouts and went right into my favorites folder. I find that it is called scrapbooking for a reason. We … Continue reading

Wednesday’s Weekly Challenge-Winter Wonderland

It is so cold here in Utah this winter. I can’t seem to warm up. The kids have cabin fever, as do I, and you can only go so many times to the library without going crazy. But, I do love the snow, although this winter, it seems a little ridiculous how cold it has been. My many friends and family in the south have even gotten a considerable amount of snow this week. So, since I don’t see a warm up in my future anytime soon, why not embrace what is all around us? Winter!! This weeks challenge will … Continue reading

Wednesday’s Weekly Challenge- Lots of Frills

For the challenge this week, I want to see how much bling and how much flowers we can put on our layouts. While this is not typically my style of scrapbooking on a daily basis, I do like it now and then. And, it is especially nice on those girly layouts that we love to do. So, for this week, here are the rules for this challenge: 1. You must have two or more flowers on the layout. 2. You have to use bling somewhere on the layout, this can include sequins, glitter mist, rhinestones or anything else that is … Continue reading

Wednesday’s Weekly Challenge-Monochrome Colors

This week, we are going to do something that will really help you think outside the box when it comes to scrapbooking. For me, I love tons of color on a layout. I love to mix and match patterned papers, and I almost always go bold in my color choices. But, why not tone it down a bit? The challenge for this week is to stick with one color tone and only mix it with neutral tones. What are the neutral tones? I would say neutral tones that you can use are: white, cream, beige, tan, brown, khaki, black, gray, … Continue reading

Wednesday’s Weekly Challenge-Multi-Picture Layout

For some scrappers, they always do multiple pictures on a layout. So, this may not bee too hard of a challenge, but for me it is hard sometimes. I love to take a lot of pictures, and I love the look of a scrapbook page with just one photo on it that is the focal point of the page. So, how do I solve this problem? I can either not scrap all the photos I take, or I can scrap more layouts with more pictures on the page. This can be challenging. Recently, I did a blog post titled, Fitting … Continue reading

Wednesday’s Weekly Challenge-Scrap Your Halloween Photos

Now that Halloween has come and gone, it is time to scrap those Halloween photos! For some reason, this is always a bit difficult for me. I’m not a big Halloween person, so maybe that is the reason why, but I always find it hard to coordinate papers that have a Halloween theme, with the pictures. Maybe that is because you are often trying to coordinate Halloween papers with crazy costumes. It just doesn’t always seem to flow well for me. But, this week, let’s try for our challenge to get those Halloween photos scrapped. Here are a few “rules” … Continue reading

Buy Your American Girl Scrapbook Supplies For Christmas

I have a few nieces that are right in the middle of those pre-teen years. My daughter is still too young for that, but she thinks she is as old as they are. Something I always struggle with is what to get them for birthdays and Christmas. I ran across some adorable ideas recently on www.twopeasinabucket.com. Did you know that the American Girl brand makes great craft supplies for this age group? I didn’t. Maybe this is common knowledge, but what a great idea for Moms that scrapbook to share their fun with their daughters with one of their favorite … Continue reading

A Scrapper’s Self-Realization

Doing something artistic can help you realize things about yourself that you never knew. It can open your mind, and your view on things that maybe you did not think you wanted to know anything about. Today, I realized something about myself. While I love paper crafting, and love scrapbooking, I do NOT love card making. I had to put together some cards for an activity for my church for the young girls to make cards to thank someone during this holiday season. I wanted to get the cards pre-cut and measured ahead of time so that all would go … Continue reading

Wednesday’s Weekly Challenge-Use Your Ugly Paper

So, have you ever bought something that you thought was so great only to throw it in your stash and never pick it up again? Weeks later, you run across it and think, Why did I buy that? If you answered yes, then this weekly challenge is just for you! It’s time to think outside the box and try your best to create something beautiful out of something ugly. … Continue reading
