Visually Appealing Pages: Part Three

Welcome back to my three part series on “Visually Appealing Pages.” Today we are going to wrap this up with a few more ideas to make your scrapbook pages come alive. Memorabilia are a nice touch to your page but don’t always look nice pasted directly onto the page. If you want to keep some of your memorabilia, paste an envelope to the page and tuck them away inside. An envelope could hold pamphlets, movie ticket stubs and other papers. You can also make your own envelope, using your favorite patterned or colored paper. You could also incorporate stamps and … Continue reading

Visually Appealing Pages: Part Two

Welcome back to my blogs on creating visually appealing scrapbook pages. This is part two which will hopefully spark some new ideas for all you scrapbookers out there. Border around your pages gives them flair. While we often think about matting pictures or putting borders around them, the page itself can get a new look with a border. You can put lace, punch outs or stickers around the page. Another fun idea is to punch holes around the edges of the paper and then lace ribbon through them. This will totally change the look of your page. Accenting your page … Continue reading

Visually Appealing Pages: Part One

Scrapbook pages are visually appealing to the eye. Using different colors, layouts and accessories can help to create an interesting page. Try not to get too wrapped up in simplicity. Scrapbooking is your opportunity to think outside the box and get creative. So here are some ideas on how to make your scrapbook pages more visually appealing and creative. First, think about how you can incorporate embellishments onto your pages. Stickers are fine but there are so many other interesting trinkets that could be included on your page. Brads, sequins, ribbons, lace, jewels, flowers, buttons and snaps are just a … Continue reading

Using Acrylic Shapes on Layouts Part Two

Acrylic shapes are one of my favorite things to include on my scrapbook layouts. Today I’d like to share some tips on how to attach these to your scrapbook page. Since you can see through the acrylic shapes, you need to be a bit more creative with your attachment. You need to do something to attach the shape of letter that is visually appealing rather than just putting an adhesive tab on the back. Attach it with a brad or eyelet. If you want to use a brad to attach the shape or letter to your page, I suggest using … Continue reading

Crib Bumpers Are Dangerous

Crib bumpers are decorative. They help make a baby’s crib look softer, warmer, and more visually appealing. Unfortunately, crib bumpers can also be dangerous. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that parents not use any crib bumpers at all. The AAP has a lot of great advice for parents. Follow that advice, and you can help to keep your baby safe. Many parents have heard the “back to sleep” advice from the AAP. The simple phrase makes it easy for parents to remember to place their baby on his or her back for sleep – and to do that … Continue reading

Redoing Old Scrapbooks

I’m on a new mission…to redo some old scrapbooks. Recently we moved some different pieces of furniture around and I ran across the first scrapbooks I ever did for each of my children. Honestly, they were laughable. No real creativity, just very blah. These are precious pictures, some of the very first ones we took of our children yet they are housed inside this pathetic album. While I would like to just toss them back into a pile, I think I am going to undertake the probably tedious task of redoing them. It feels like an overwhelming project. LOTS of … Continue reading

Dr. Seuss Quotes for Scrapbooking

Dr. Seuss books are among the most purchased and beloved children’s books of all time. I never tire of reading these books and my children never tire of hearing the books. Dr. Seuss books open the door of imagination for both children and adults. Who can forget “Green Eggs and Ham” or “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish”? I think I can recite many of the poems or lines from the poems from memory. I love thinking about wishing a wish on an Ish Wish Dish! Bring this imagination to your scrapbook by using Dr. Seuss quotes to … Continue reading
