Poetry Workshop

I can barely remember the words to my favorite songs, so trying to recall verses to popular poems is not something I would even consider attempting. Yet, during a scrapbook workshop I attended over the summer, the instructor insisted that infusing layouts with pretty prose is a sure-fire way to make page designs especially memorable. Fortunately, another lady in the crowd raised her hand after the teacher nonchalantly suggested we cull our collective memories for appropriate lines and stanzas to include on our layouts. Seriously, how many people file poems in their brains these days and are able to extract … Continue reading

I wonder how long it will take before traditional scrapping becomes a thing of the past? It seems every scrapper and her sister is converting to digital scrapbooking. Are You Obsessed with Scrapbooking?

So, when you are absolutely obsessed with scrapbooking, you realize it almost daily. I decided that I was going to take a week or so break for creating any new layouts. Last month, I participated in several scrapbooking challenges online, and had a good time doing it. But, that was also time consuming for me. I love getting the feedback on my own layouts, and getting to see the creativity of others’ too. But, it was a lot of work. So, thus the needed vacation. But, then tragedy struck. I bought more supplies. And, you know what that means….when you … Continue reading

Scrapbooking is Supposed to Be Fun!

Do you ever feel bogged down by your scrapbooking? I do. Sometimes I look at all those photos, or I think about how behind I am already, and I just say, “What is the point?”. On those days, I don’t scrapbook. Shocker, I know. But, what IS the point if you are not inspired? What IS the point if you are not having fun? We could easily put our photos in your normal photo albums and look at them at our leisure, but in my opinion, the whole point of scrapbooking is to have fun creating a memory that you … Continue reading

Is Scrapbooking A Spectator Sport?

So, we all know that scrapbooking is technically NOT a sport at all, but wouldn’t it be interesting if it were? But, since we know it’s not going to make the Olympics anytime soon, let’s just pretend that it is for just one second. Are there spectators? Many times, it feels like there is no one that cares other than us about our beautiful scrapbook pages. For some people, that is just fine. They are content creating and scrapping even if no one is watching. But, in this age of the Internet, and everyone being everywhere all the time, it’s … Continue reading

Try Online Scrapbooking

So you have just completed another scrapbook album. It looks fantastic. You go back over your creation, admiring your work. Now what? You stick it on a shelf and it collects dust. Sounds a little harsh, I know. But do you find that to be true for your scrapbooks? We spend all this time putting it together and rarely get to share it. Why do we bother to create scrapbooks? Do we spend the money and time to put together some great memory keeper only to stick it on a shelf so it collects dust? I don’t think so. Yet … Continue reading

Try a New Scrapbook Look Using Black and White Photos

If you were to take a look through my scrapbooks you would see a lot of color. The album itself, the pictures inside, the paper and embellishments all scream color. I’m sure this is true for most scrapbookers. We tend to really like color. Recently I have been thinking of doing something a little different. I really appreciate the look and beauty of black and white photos. Black and white photos are simple but sophisticated. They have an elegance to them that is very unique. A black and white photo scrapbook would definitely be something very different. It would be … Continue reading
