How Not to Go Broke Scrapbooking

Remember those pumpkin seed scrapbook stickers I had to, had to have last month? I resisted the temptation to splurge on them; however, I still plan to feature them in my Halloween 2010 layout. If all goes according to plan those adorable little stickers will be all mine by November 2nd and I won’t have to dig deep to get them. After Halloween sale here I come. Shopping the sale table at my local scrapbook store is just one of the ways I am able to support my addiction to stickers, die cuts and stamps. Other ways I save include: … Continue reading

Getting Organized

Here’s great incentive to get your scrapbooking space organized: the Scrapbook Rewards Visa Card. The card offers avid scrappers a way to add to their collection of goods by earning points on purchases. The points can then be redeemed for cardstock, albums, totes, paper trimmers, replacement blades, embellishments and other scrapbooking supplies. However, there’s a catch, at least in my home. I have a rule that for every new item I purchase I must add it to an inventory sheet, so that I am not accumulating items that I really don’t need. Whereas I would love 20 different packs of … Continue reading

It’s free for the iPhone and looks like fun. When you go into a participating store, check in to Shopkick to earn Kickbucks for later use. Scrapbook Memorial

Scrapbooking is all about special memories and times you cherish and want to hold onto forever. Most scrapbookers are very selective on the photos they choose down to the embellishments to bring about just the right emotion on a page. We want our pages to pop with life and evoke the same memory we had that day. You will see scrapbooking about babies, school years, weddings, and holidays. Yet, one can commemorate another life event through scrapbooking; death. This is not a morbid thought. It is a celebration of a loved one’s life and memories for all to share. When … Continue reading

Taking Scrapbook-worthy Photos

Scrapbooking is a hugely popular hobby. And it’s rewarding to come away from your creative space with something that both preserves memories and was fun to create. While I enjoy scrapbooking, one of the challenges I face is finding scrapbook-worthy photos. I spend a lot of time taking photos of nature and architecture. Trees, flowers, symmetry, lines, and other abstract things. I don’t take a lot of time to photograph people. And while a few photos of some of these other things are nice in a scrapbook, they’re not what you generally are looking for in a scrapbook. I’m not … Continue reading

A Scrapbook for Everyone

My children aren’t quite ready to move out but when they do I want to have a scrapbook dilemma solved. I would love to send them off with scrapbooks that they can keep and eventually pass on down to their children. The problem is if I give away all my scrapbooks to them, I will have nothing left. I haven’t quite arrived where I would like to be but a few years ago I started trying to solve that problem by creating multiple scrapbooks. Ideally you should have duplicates made of your pictures. The best way to go about this … Continue reading

More Movie Tickets from Safeway (and Vons)

Paul loves taking the kids to the movies. It’s a daddy thing. He traipses off with one of them or all of them to see most of the latest good movies. With driving, that leaves me about four hours to take a nap, read a book, scrapbook, or soak in the tub. I love when they go to the movies! We’re on a budget, and try to do it inexpensively. We have a credit card that issues rewards for gas purchases, and we turn those in to tickets and popcorn at a greatly reduced rate. If we have to pay, … Continue reading

Office Depot $10 off $25

Because I have a gold Rewards card, Staples sends me a lot of coupons. I usually buy from there. But in my area, Staples is literally across the street from Office Depot. I like to go in there just to comparison shop. They have the best clearance deals because the local manager doesn’t like to carry excess inventory. The day after Christmas, their gourmet (not the cheapie) popcorn was marked down to a buck and change. Sometimes I find nothing, but other times it’s well worth the extra hundred yards. Because Staples gives me a good reward check, I haven’t … Continue reading

Staples: Stackable Trays for your Desk – 6 for $3.59 SHIPPED

I have to admit that I never used to shop Staples until I started to mystery shop them. I paid a lot more to buy things for my home office at “discount” stores. I really like the store, but I like having stuff delivered even more. As a Rewards member, they don’t charge me for shipping. It’s great. All it takes is signing up; there’s no fee, no minimum purchase or anything. Every quarter, I get a Rewards check to spend there. It’s tied to how much I spend. The last check was almost $40, which I took and spent … Continue reading
