Did you know that the month of September was actually National Stamping Month, and that National Stamping Day fell which after a bit of research, I am find actually started with Close to My Heart, a home-based scrapbooking and stamping business. They have also made the second Saturday in September each year, National Stamping Day. What fun to celebrate one of our passions. Here is what was going on in the scrapbooking blog in the month of September. Two Years and One Month of Scrapbooking Articles

Everyone has a dream and when it finally comes true, you might wish for someone to pinch you just to be sure you aren’t actually asleep. Two years and one month ago, I had my own dream and it did come true and here I am all this time later, still loving it! When I accepted the position to write with www.families.com I had no idea that two years and one month later I would still be here. I also had no idea of the opportunities that would present themselves to me during this time. I love writing for this … Continue reading

Scrapbooking Week in Review for July 16th to 22nd, 2007

Lots of great articles and tips have been passed along in the scrapbooking blog this week. As most of you know, I am now also blogging for the photography blog, and educating myself on how to tie these two hand-in-hand blogs together has become a huge goal. While I continue researching articles on both photography tips, and scrapbooking tips, I feel I am becoming better at both. I hope when I begin to share my more recent layouts, you too will agree. Let’s see what went on in the scrapbook blog this week: It’s hot, sticky, wet and just generally, … Continue reading

Scrapbooking Blog Goals

Shaking it up in the scrapbooking world has always been my goal, besides teaching others about the joy of scrapbooking. Preserving memories, both good and bad is an extremely important process for people. Remembering good times and bad times can help some people heal, and sometimes it can make a huge difference in their life. Photographs can make people feel more connected to the moment – the memory. Lately, I have reevaluated my goals in the scrapbooking blog. First and foremost, I be writing for the photography blog in addition to scrapbooking (and frugal living). I will be working on … Continue reading

Teaching Scrapbooking Classes

One of my favorite past times, is teaching others how to scrapbook. I love introducing a scrapbooker to new techniques and helping them to discover their own creativity within themselves. I call it a past time, because although I actually get paid to teach, it is about the job more than the pay. In fact, if it was more about the pay, I think I’d have to find another job. Teaching a scrapbooking class is the same as any other educational teaching experience. You have to first decide on the class you will teach. Then there is a preparation period, … Continue reading

Biggest Scrapbooking Uh-Oh’s part two

Continuing our discussion of our biggest regrets and blunders we’ve made in our daily scrapbooking, I have a few more to add. You might have different ones, and you might have similar ones, but regardless, we’ve all made them. Silhouettes – Oh how I remember good old silhouettes and I certainly did plenty of them. Often times mine looked like they were coming out of the side of the page or something equally as disturbing. Embellishment Overload – This is something I think many still fall into the trap with. With so many new embellishments as well as types of … Continue reading

Poetry in Schools

As a poet myself, I have a natural interest in reading poetry as well as writing it. Sadly many teachers seem to do more to turn children and young adults of poetry off than to turn them on to it. By the time they’ve insisted the poem be dissected myriad times, children have lost any joy in the poem. Sometimes poems are simply meant to be enjoyed not analyzed to death. Then let the meaning and all the rest sort of sneak up on the young person, as they think about it. I was fortunate when at school in having … Continue reading

Scheduling Conflicts in a Blended Family

Being in a blended family can be difficult when it comes to scheduling. There are so many different things to consider, so many variations of what can be planned and what cannot be planned and several different people to think about when making scheduled plans. So what do you do when a scheduling conflict occurs? Communication Communicating with all parties of interest is a key ingredient to effective parenting within a blended family. There are several parents that are involved and should be involved in the decision making process. Discussing situations that are conflicting can help warrant a quick resolution, … Continue reading

The Princess of Frugal Has Returned

Having always been known amongst my family and friends, neighbors and sometimes even strangers as the Queen of Frugal, what’s the deal with the sudden change in name? I’ve taken a step down in my title. I realized that while I can be frugal in many areas of my life, there are just some areas I am not compromising on. My friend commented that I was dethroned and now apparently I am the Princess of Frugal. I’m perfectly okay with that. Really. Anyway, the Princess of Frugal has returned. After a short hiatus, where I had another large project in … Continue reading

Living Frugally Is The Latest Trend

Living more frugally seems to be the latest trend these days. Perhaps its just my own perception, but if you look around you, newspapers and magazines seem to be publishing more and more feature articles on ways to save and live a more frugal life. The more we expose people to these trends, the more they will take off and become the latest “thing to do” and perhaps the more retailers, shops and others will begin to listen. Saving money is finally cool. What I never understood before is that apparently it is an embarrassment to admit you’re a cheapskate. … Continue reading
