My New Year’s Scrapping Resolutions

I don’t normally do New Year’s resolutions. Mainly because I never stick to them. But, it’s fun to set goals, and it always gives you something to strive for. And, seeing as it is the last day of 2010, why not set some goals for the upcoming year. So, here I am. These are just for sharing. Every scrapper has their own goals of what they want to achieve. Maybe you need to cut back on your spending, or learn a new technique, whatever it is that you want to accomplish this upcoming year, write it down, and hang it … Continue reading

Scrapping the End of 2010

One of the Black Friday deals at my local scrapbook store was a Buy One Get One Free offer on embellishments. Given my love for Jolee’s Boutique 3D stickers it’s a no brainer what I used my coupon to purchase. Yes, more stickers. However, instead of purchasing yet another package of Christmas-themed stickers, I selected ones for a New Year’s Eve layout. In fact, I was inspired to create a New Year’s Eve layout based on the stickers I purchased. I’m thinking of adding the champagne glass-shaped stickers to a black, gold or silver background, then bedazzling the page with … Continue reading

Scrapping the End of 2010

I love the holidays just as much as the next guy, but let’s get through Halloween before we start concentrating on New Year’s Eve, or is that too much to ask from retail America? Yesterday my local scrapbook supply shop erected a New Year’s Eve sticker, stamp and die-cut display. I was too disgusted by its timing that I didn’t even bother to browse through the clearly marked “BRAND NEW” items. My defiant act should not be misinterpreted. I have nothing against New Year’s Eve scrapbook themes. In fact, I made a few memorable layouts utilizing the party theme just … Continue reading

Gearing Up for Halloween Scrapping

Within 72 hours of Labor Day officially ending, our local Wal-Mart began removing back-to-school supplies and filling the empty shelves with Halloween paraphernalia. No, I still can’t get over it. If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em, right? Today, I started sorting through my Halloween scrapping supplies, hoping that I had enough leftovers from last year to get me through 2010’s Nightmare on Candy Street. Fortunately, I have a variety of stickers, rub-ons, rubber stamps, charms, and die-cuts to make several decent Halloween-themed layouts. However, I will need to purchase additional decorative patterned papers, given that the ones I bought … Continue reading

More Tips for Scrapping Summer Adventures

Picnics, trips to the beach and swimming dates at the pool are all scrap worthy moments that help memorialize the summer of 2010. But, what about major summer adventures, such as a cross-country road trip or your first European holiday. If you shoot as many photos as I do, the bigger adventures warrant an entire scrapbook rather than just a few pages in a year-end book. My neighbor just returned from a couples cruise to the Panama Canal. It was a vacation she will remember forever. To help her keep the memories of her trip alive I am helping her … Continue reading

Chuck Norris, Gays, and the Boy Scouts of America

You know all the Chuck Norris facts going around? Like behind “Chuck Norris’ beard is another fist.” Or, “Chuck Norris counted to infinity – twice.” How about “Chuck Norris is currently suing NBC, claiming Law and Order are trademarked names for his left and right legs.” Although I’ve always thought of myself as a Bruce Lee girl, these always make me giggle. His 40+ year career as an actor and martial artist along with these Chuck Norris facts cause TIME to proclaim Norris an “online cult hero” in 2006. Too bad he showed a less than heroic attitude today in … Continue reading

Journaling New Year’s Resolutions

The first day of the year brings with it a myriad of opportunities and new beginnings. It also ushers in the ubiquitous New Year’s resolution. I’m sure you’ve made a few in your lifetime. I have; everything from losing weight to learning how to sew, to getting a new job and getting out of debt. If I had to scrap the litany of resolutions I’ve made in the last 30 or so years, I’d need a forklift to pick up my book. A New Year’s resolution scrapbook? Do people actually scrap promises that are made to be broken? According to … Continue reading

How Not to Go Broke Scrapbooking

Remember those pumpkin seed scrapbook stickers I had to, had to have last month? I resisted the temptation to splurge on them; however, I still plan to feature them in my Halloween 2010 layout. If all goes according to plan those adorable little stickers will be all mine by November 2nd and I won’t have to dig deep to get them. After Halloween sale here I come. Shopping the sale table at my local scrapbook store is just one of the ways I am able to support my addiction to stickers, die cuts and stamps. Other ways I save include: … Continue reading

Quotes for Your Halloween Scrapbook Page

As you get your little goblins, ghouls, princesses, cheerleaders, puppies, and pirates ready for this Halloween don’t forget the camera! This is one night you will want for the scrapbook. Here are some great quotes for this time theme: “Too cute to spook, but not to sweet to trick or treat”! A grandmother pretends she doesn’t know who you are on Halloween. A Renaissance faire is just an excuse to wear funny clothing and run amok. A spooking we will go!
