Scrapbooking Your Poetry

The month of April is National Poetry month, and in honor and celebration of my favorite form of writing, I thought I’d share a bit about how to create a poetry album, or even just to create pages with your poems on them. Typically, I sprinkle my poetry throughout my albums and layouts all year long. I write very personal pieces to my children and often they go right on the layout. However, I have binders full of poetry, all kinds: rhyming, musings, haiku and even a sonnet or two. I needed a place to show case a few of … Continue reading

8 Basic Scrapbooking Color Tips

Here are a few color tips to use and think about when creating layouts while scrapbooking. 1. Keep Your Eyes Open – Look all around you for great color palettes and colors that work well together. Pay close attention to advertisements, nature and even interior decorating samples and clothing combinations. 2. Keep an “Idea Journal” – You can keep a small notebook in your purse or bag and jot down ideas as you see them. Seasonal Colors For Scrapbooking

Using color in our scrapbooks, is an important part of the process. Understanding what different colors tend to signify, is equally important. Most colors strongly represent certain holidays, seasonal elements, moods and emotions. For instance, red and green are most commonly used at Christmas time. What other colors represent seasonal changes? With springtime knocking on my door these days, I’d like to show you what color palettes work best for the different seasons. However, as a Layout Decorator (rather than an Interior Decorator), color plays an important part in our page designs and a basic knowledge of terms might be useful. I spent a great deal of time learning about color and figuring out the terms that might be helpful to a scrapbooker and am providing that information here. Primary Colors – These colors are red, blue and yellow. They are the colors that are not mixed with anything to get their colors. They are pure. Secondary Colors – … Continue reading

Scrapbooking Week in Review 3-22-07 thru 4-01-07

This week in scrapbooking kicked off with the anniversary celebrating my one year with www.families.com in the scrapbooking blog. I took a look back at some of what was being talked about year ago, and took a back to basics approach to my articles this week. On Sunday, March 22, which was the actual anniversary, I showed you what was posted a year ago in A Year Of Scrapbooking. Many journaling related articles were posted at that time, and more were included throughout the year. Most scrapbookers and probably several non-scrapbookers know me as the Journaling Queen (amongst other creative … Continue reading
