Mom, can I have a dog for Christmas? No, you’ll be getting turkey like everyone else. What did Adam say on the day before Christmas? It’s Christmas, Eve. What do you get if Santa goes down the chimney when a fire is lit? A Crisp Cringle What do snowmen eat for breakfast? Snowflakes Thank you. Thank you. I’ll be here all week. Nothing sets off a hearty round of ho, ho, hos than a silly seasonal riddle or two. Scrappy Blog Mania

A few years ago when I was scrapping a ton, scrapbook blogs weren’t all that popular. Maybe they were, and I just didn’t know it because I didn’t have a blog myself at the time. But, now that I currently run 4 blogs, aside from writing here, I have blogging on my mind. Big surprise huh? The thing that has amazed me is that in the year or so that I took off from scrapbooking after my 2nd child was born, it seems the scrapbooking blogging world exploded. When I am on message boards, and forums, everyone is promoting their … Continue reading

Scrap a Header for Your Blog

There are so many people out there with scrapbooking blogs. Hundreds. I would venture to say there are thousands. The web is amazing. Many of these blogs are for sharing layouts, creating challenges, starting up a scrapbooking business, or a mix of scrapbooking and personal blogging. Whatever your scrapbook blog might be, you can add some personality to it by scrapping your own header for your blog. I have used free templates for my blog that you can find all over the web, but I was never quite happy with how they looked. But, I didn’t want to have to … Continue reading

Scrapbooking Your Family Tree

During my genealogical research, I have accumulated quite a few old photos and heirlooms. Some I received from relatives, both near and far, and others I’ve had passed on to me specifically to include in my genealogy records. One elderly lady I met was so happy to give me some photos she had of my ancestors (who were also related to her in some manner) because she was afraid they would be thrown out after she died, since they didn’t have any meaning to her immediate family. I was honored to accept them. She passed away a few months ago. … Continue reading

Cheap Scrapbooking Supplies from the Kitchen 2

I’ve mentioned before, I just love looking for more great inexpensive items from strange places in my home. I like using things that might not otherwise have been used for exactly that use. Have you ever used anything from around your house in your albums and on your layouts? Part one of the article is posted here. There are plenty more where the original article left off. Plastic Baggies – They are certainly great for sorting and storing items, but they can also be used to hold memorabilia on your page, or to cover a tag or to create a … Continue reading

Finding Scrapbooking Retreats

Are you interested in attending a scrapbooking retreat? Do the girls you scrapbook long for some time away from home, spending a little girlfriend time together and getting some serious scrapbooking done without interruption? A scrapbooking retreat is perfect for this! But how do you find them? First of all, you can certainly search the Internet. I did and found several, except I feel that word of mouth is definitely a more powerful advertising tool. In addition to finding out someones favorite retreat location, you will be able to ask questions about the specifics of the location. What is around … Continue reading

Scrapbooking Week in Review for April 1-6, 2008 with a Few Extras

I don’t know what it was like for you in your neck of the woods this past weekend, but our area was absolutely beautiful and was the closest resemblance to Spring that we’ve had since last year. We got some flowers planted, grass seed poured and enjoyed the outdoors as much as we could. Days like those are hard to find to scrapbook, because you want to enjoy the weather, but you can always do it at night or early in the morning. Remember to make time for it, while still enjoying the beautiful weather. Here is what has been … Continue reading

Collecting Non-Traditional Scrapbooking Embellishments

Scrapbooker’s are constantly on the lookout for new and innovative items to use or try in their scrapbooks. This carries over even beyond the local craft store and scrapbooking store. This happens when they are browsing the local dollar store, or the local hardware store. But what about looking around your own home? We had a pile of clothing set aside to donate. It had been sitting there waiting for me to go through it, because I knew there were some pieces that just wouldn’t be good for someone else. Some had missing buttons, holes in the knee, tears on … Continue reading

My Personal Categories for a Household Notebook

So often others ask me how I divide or categorize my items within my household notebook. It isn’t that they do not understand the use of the notebook, only that they have trouble figuring out how to categorize it. When I discovered household notebooks, I never realized how purposeful and how incredibly important it would become to my family. We rely on this book, and affectionately refer to it as “household central”. If someone comes asking about something they hear “Check household central”. Because I figure if they cannot find it there, it probably is not anywhere in the house … Continue reading
