Scrapbooking Week in Review for January 1-6, 2008

The New Year is upon us and with that comes new goals, new tips and new articles here on families.com. The scrapbooking blog is once again buzzing with activity and will continue to grow and broaden during the year. We will be taking a look at a few forgotten categories and helping those flourish. Here’s what has been up in the scrapbooking blog this past week. Is Scrapbooking Dying Out? When you’re in the industry as long as I have been, you tend to see different trends come and go, different products reach their height and then die out, and … Continue reading

Top Scrapbooking Idea Books of 2007

Scrapbooking idea books bring loads of ideas, how-to’s, techniques and layout inspiration. They are a wonderful addition to any scrapbooker’s bookshelf, however should be purchased carefully. All those idea books can add up in cost, and take up a lot of valuable room if they aren’t being used. It is also difficult to know which idea books to get when you don’t know anything about them. You can either check them out at the library or find other sources to borrow or look through them before deciding if you want to purchase them. Below I have compiled a list of … Continue reading

What Are Your Scrapbooking Goals?

Scrapbooking like any hobby, requires planning, work and goal setting. Every year at the New Year I set goals for myself during the year. I strive to make them manageable goals so that I can feel as if I have obtained something and succeeded. Usually in the summer I review my goals and alter what I need to make them more realistic. With the New Year only two and a half months away, I started thinking about my goals for next year. My priorities are different now. I am still an avid scrapbooker and photographer, but I am also a … Continue reading

Scrapbooking Week in Review for July 16th to 22nd, 2007

Lots of great articles and tips have been passed along in the scrapbooking blog this week. As most of you know, I am now also blogging for the photography blog, and educating myself on how to tie these two hand-in-hand blogs together has become a huge goal. While I continue researching articles on both photography tips, and scrapbooking tips, I feel I am becoming better at both. I hope when I begin to share my more recent layouts, you too will agree. Let’s see what went on in the scrapbook blog this week: It’s hot, sticky, wet and just generally, … Continue reading

Exciting Things Happening at Big Picture Scrapbooking

If you’ve been following this blog for a while, you know that I love the classes that are offered at Big Picture Scrapbooking. It was such a pleasant surprise earlier this month when I visited the site and it had undergone a complete make over. Not only has the look of the site changed, but also they have some fun new changes implanted and coming in the future. One of my favorite updates to the site is the daily quote and weekly color inspiration. I love quotes; I figure that you can never have too many quotes. The color inspiration … Continue reading

Nicole’s 2007 Scrapbooking Goals

It is so hard to believe that it is already 2007. I am still trying to figure out where 2006 vanished too. I decided a long time ago, that being an adult means that time flies at a much more rapid rate than when you are a child. Remember when you were young and thirty days until your birthday was simply agonizing because it took so long? Now, thirty days seems like a heartbeat in my personal calendar. Every year I make New Year’s Goals, though I do sometimes call them resolutions. I am not one of those typical resolution … Continue reading

Scrapbooking Goals for 2007

With a New Year upon us, I thought that it would be appropriate to set some scrapbooking goals for the New Year and share them here with you. Make an album for my husband. So many of my layouts focus on my kids, so I think that it is important this year to include my husband more in our albums. I’m thinking about a “Favorite Things About You” album or and “all About You” album. I’ll share what I come up with once it’s done. Include more about myself in our albums. Most scrapbookers do not take time to include … Continue reading

Photivation

OK, so Photivation isn’t really a word but it should be. What I’m talking about is photo motivation. It is amazing how much more motivating a photo can be rather than just looking in the mirror. I keep two photos on my refrigerator. One is from when my husband and I got married and I weighed 225 (and had a bad perm too). Not only does that photo show me how much my husband loves me but it reminds me that I don’t want to go back to that weight or hairdresser again. The other photo is from shortly before … Continue reading

Photo Tag Book

Last year for Valentine’s Day I made my son a mini photo tag book. It was titled 10 Things I Love About You. Being a typical teen age boy it isn’t anything that he will admit he likes. The book moves around his bedroom every couple of weeks so I know he is looking at it occasionally. A big challenge for me was making the tag book masculine enough for a teenage boy to appreciate. First, I came up with my quick list of 10 things I loved about him. Things like his smile, his sense of humor, passion for … Continue reading
