Saving Memories Forever – With an App

Genealogists spend a lot of time researching details about the lives of their family members. Wouldn’t it be great if there was a simple way to record all those family stories that have been passed down over the years? There is an app called Saving Memories Forever that can help you to do that. Small children tend to enjoy hearing stories. Tell a preschooler a family story about their grandfather from when he was a young boy, and you are likely to be asked to re-tell that story again. Teenagers tend to grow tired of hearing the same old family … Continue reading

Preserving School Memories

Have you ever considered scrapping your kid’s school lunch? In an age where it seems nothing is off limits in regards to preservation on cardstock pages, I would have to say that photographing and journaling about a school lunch is about as desperate as it gets. Planning School Layouts in Advance

If you are like the majority of us, school is either already in session in your neck of the woods, or it is just about to start. In any case, you might find yourself with more time to scrapbook, and if this is the case, school layouts might be a top priority. School memories are important to capture each year as your child grows. I still enjoy looking back at the photo albums my mother put together reflecting my grade school and middle school years. I did my own high school album, and it is still one of my favorites … Continue reading

Frugal Memories: Share Your Child’s Artwork Quickly, Easily and Affordably

My daughter just finished her first year of preschool. I was so proud of her as she walked out of her classroom with an armload of paperwork, photos, pictures and other treasures she’d been creating. As I rifled through the gigantic caterpillar poster, the pudding hand-prints, the cotton ball animal farm and the seemingly endless stack of smiley faces and rainbow drawings I had a mini-panic attack. I can’t keep all of this, can I? I certainly can’t throw it away. There is too much stuff to fill a scrapbook. What now? I grabbed my wrapping paper box and tossed … Continue reading

School Memories

We only have a few weeks left before the end of the school year. Desks are getting cleaned out. Already, my third graders backpacks are full of papers, reports, and art projects. The stack on the table grows larger each day. I have a friend who neatly organizes her children’s papers into school year and subject. Sigh. I’m not nearly that organized. And I don’t have room to keep everything. I try to save the big stuff, especially the creative stuff. Things like short stories, or poetry. Art projects always get saved. I also try to keep a few math … Continue reading

School Layouts – Lunch and Recess

Most of the time, when children are asked about their favorite subject at school, lunch and recess are often included. No matter what classes your child is involved in, or what topics they learn about in school, there is one constant throughout elementary school. Lunch and recess. In an earlier article, Scrapbooking School Layouts, I shared with you a layout I did, when I just happened to be at my daughter’s school one day, that they had indoor recess. I was extremely happy I had my camera with me, and was able to capture the fun and games the kids … Continue reading

Completing School Layouts

Commemorating your child’s school years, is almost as important as completing a baby book for each child. In fact, from personal experience, most children are much more likely to enjoy looking at recent photographs of themselves, than looking at photographs that don’t really resemble them at all. Children absolutely love looking at scrapbooks, especially at pictures of them doing things they enjoy. The joy of scrapbooking school memories, is that your child can be involved in each process. There are several different ways that scrapbookers choose to display school layouts. Some enjoy creating a yearly school album. Some continue to … Continue reading

Preserving School Memories

Today I went to my daughter’s school to eat lunch with her because she was student of the week for her class. All of the other children who were student of the week in the class, their parents and the principal eat lunch up on the stage in the cafeteria. It was really fun and nice time for my daughter to feel special. But, guess what? I forgot to take my camera! I’m not too worried since we will have other great school experiences to capture in the future, but it got me thinking about all of the things I … Continue reading
