Organization: Sorting Your Supplies

As you know, organizing is a big task. Some people only need to organize a little, and still others need to organize their entire scrapbooking areas. Many scrapbookers are in need of storage solutions for often used supplies, and still others are looking for storage solutions for everything. So where exactly do you start? Simple – from the very beginning. The first step to effective organization is to figure out what you have. In order to do this, you must first sort all of your materials and supplies into categories. It is also easier to do this by sorthing them … Continue reading

Scrapbook Overhaul

Dear Oprah, would you kindly send your organizing guru Peter Walsh to overhaul my scrapbook space? Clearly, the queen of talk didn’t receive my S.O.S. prior to ending her show because my scrapbook corner is as horrendous as ever. I don’t have enough money to be a hoarder, but I could still use Walsh’s advice nonetheless. He’s got a show on Oprah Radio where he serves up general tips on how to de-clutter your home, but when it comes to specific scrapbook storage hints and tips, Walsh insinuates that there is no “right” way to organize your supplies. Rather, as … Continue reading

The Pencil Sharpener

So, my little brother once got stabbed in the leg with a pencil. He was “accidentally” stabbed by my other little brother. I put quotes around the “accidentally” because I can’t be sure how accidental it was. I will say that both of them were shocked when this transpired. Neither of them were really hurt (though one of them began to chase the other). While no harm was intended, and not much harm was done, the event has reminded me that pencils can, indeed, be dangerous. The point? If pencils are dangerous, then the even sharper instruments used to sharpen … Continue reading

Getting Organized

Keeping your scrapbook supplies organized is not only a good way to save money, but it also helps keep your children safe. My young daughter is attracted to my colorful scrapbooking tools like a moth to a flame. She loves getting her hands on stickers, stamps, buttons and ribbon. However, her favorite items are my sharp tools, especially my collection of “fancy” scissors, which she likes to steal and use to cut her doll’s hair. By keeping my scrapbook stash organized and out of reach I don’t have to worry about her getting hurt. Consider placing very small embellishments that … Continue reading

The Decluttering Rules: Sorting Big Items

I have Rubbermaids. They appear to have spawned in my basement, these big blue boxes. Luckily they also have labels, one for each season of the year. Christmas has several boxes, while Valentine’s Day and spring are all lumped into one. I also categorize my items in drawers, shelves, and rooms. Do you have a house that is full of stuff, without any particular order? If so, it’s likely very challenging to find what you’re looking for. Here are some ways that I categorize the items in my home. Large boxes are one of the ways that I categorize my … Continue reading
