Printing on Scrapbook Paper

Taking advantage of sales on scrapbook paper is a great way to save money. However, if you can’t use the bulk stock as effectively as possible, then your purchase may be worthless. This is especially true if your computer printer places certain limitations on the type of scrapbook paper you can use. If you own a standard ink jet printer, you really need to pay close attention to the type of scrapbook paper you buy. When selecting paper consider the weight. For example, a heavy-weight cardstock may not be compatible with your printer. Also, examine the paper’s texture. If the … Continue reading

Scrapbooking Made Easy

My mother is the first to admit that she is a dinosaur when it comes to technology. To say that she doesn’t embrace computers or anything digital would be a severe understatement. Ironically, for as much as my mom abhors high-tech gadgets, she absolutely loves the idea of digital scrapbooks. In fact, she is borderline obsessed with digital photo books, which are essentially affordable scrapbooks that you make online. You’ve likely seen the albums advertised on various photography and scrapbooking websites. They feature a variety of prefabricated templates that make scrapping an entire book a breeze. To design the pages … Continue reading

Hints for Baby Scrapbooks

In a previous post I detailed some of the elements I used in a baby-themed scrapbook I worked on with a friend. We created the book on a $5 budget and the results look like a million bucks. Fortunately, my friend owns a professional grade printer and we were able to use a ton of free printables in order to keep costs down. What many scrappers may not realize is that they can actually print an entire baby-themed memory album from the Internet for free. Whereas we just printed individual worksheets and other free digital embellishments, there are sites where … Continue reading

Have Computer Will Scrapbook

Before you head to your local scrapbook shop to load up on materials to design themed layouts, consult your personal computer. In most cases you can save big bucks by surfing the net rather than strolling the aisles of a craft store. The Internet is teeming with free scrapbook elements, from paper to stickers and just about everything in between. What’s more, the free items can be used in digital projects or they can be printed out and used in traditional scrapbook layouts. I recently helped a friend of mine craft a baby scrapbook for her newborn son. We ended … Continue reading

High-Tech Scrapbook Resources

Computers are a priceless resource when it comes to scrapbooking, and not just digital scrapbooking. I am a traditionalist when it comes to creating memory albums, which is why I don’t have too many examples of digital scrapbooking masterpieces. However, that doesn’t mean I don’t utilize my computer to create amazing layouts. When people hear about computers being used to enhance scrapbooking, most automatically focus on the different digital software options available on the market. For example, Photoshop is one of the most incredible resources for scrapbookers whose pictures need help, be it in the cropping, lighting, contrast or focus … Continue reading

No Computer = Clean House

! Last week I was without a computer for six long days. I didn’t realize how much of my time was spent in front of this electronic box, until it was gone. The first day I wandered the house, looking for something to do. I found myself, picking up, straightening up and before I knew it I was cleaning the house from top to bottom. To say it needed it would be an understatement and now that it’s done, I can’t believe the difference. My house wasn’t insanely dirty, but it had gotten out of control. Between working, writing and … Continue reading

Are There Pictures Of You In Your Child’s Scrapbook?

I love looking at pictures of Hailey when she was little. She was such a little cutie pie, always smiling and doing the silliest things. The first ten years of her life are all sweetly scrapbooked. Pages of pretty paper and pictures that tell the story of her life in snapshots. Once I got divorced the time for scrapbooking escaped me, there just weren’t enough hours in the day. I still took pictures but they are in the little envelopes you get when you have them developed, waiting for the day that I have time to put them in albums. … Continue reading

Making Scrapbooking Easy

My seven-year-old daughter has been scrapbooking since she was about four. When she first started helping me construct pages, she’d be in charge of placing stickers and stamps on various layouts. She also had a say in what photos to feature on the page and assisted by doodling on some of the journaling blocks. However, now that she is older she can design her own layouts. Thankfully, I discovered sticky back scrapbook paper, so putting together an entire page design herself is not nearly as challenging any more. Even if you don’t have kids, most scrapbookers know how messy adhesive … Continue reading
