No-Stress Scrapbooking

My local Wal-Mart has drastically reduced prices on select pre-made scrapbooks. Most of them feature autumnal colors, though there are a few which include pastel shades. The low prices make them hard for me to resist; however, judging by how many are left on the shelves I would venture to guess that other crafters don’t share the same sentiment. If you are an avid scrapper with years of experience under your belt, then you probably don’t purchase many pre-made scrapbooks. The memory albums are traditionally reserved for beginners and others who don’t have a ton of time to spend crafting … Continue reading

Displaying Memorabilia in a Scrapbook

Recently I scanned some old pictures of myself that I found in some scrapbooks I had created years ago. My scrapbooks include a lot of memorabilia, including newspaper clippings. The thing that stands out with the newspaper clippings is how they have yellowed. I have more scrapbooks that I still want to create and they will include newspaper clippings. But I really hate the idea of them yellowing. I happened across an article just the day other and it gave a solution to the yellowing problem. You take a capful of Milk of Magnesia and pour it into a bottle … Continue reading

Scrapbooking Week in Review

I’ve decided to forgo the typical Week in Review and focus more on a bi-weekly update of sorts here and in my other topics. It makes it far more interesting when there are more things to look at, and it allows you to see more articles that you might have missed. So what’s been up in the scrapbooking blog lately? Many scrapbookers struggle to figure out how to store their scrapbook albums. They wonder what the right things to do are, or perhaps how someone else might do it. In Displaying Your Scrapbook Albums you’ll find a few ways that … Continue reading

Displaying Your Scrapbook Albums

It is always interesting to me to hear the different ways that scrapbookers organize and display their scrapbooking albums. There are so many different outlooks on the way that they should be displayed, and many different ways that scrapbookers do display their albums. It always surprises me when scrapbookers don’t have a method for displaying their albums. After all that hard work, it should be a given that you would want to show them off. Even if they aren’t completed. Allowing friends and family to enjoy even a half-way finished project is better than stowing the album away in some … Continue reading

Heritage Albums: Step-by-Step

So, you’re the family historian! That likely happened in large part due by default, didn’t it? Good for you! It’s really an honor. Now it’s time to get organized and get those old photos into a heritage album, but where do you start? First, gather the photos you’ll be using. Look through them. Is there any theme that comes out? Are many of them of the same person or same event? In the book featured here, most of the photos were of Paul’s grandmother, Clara, and her sisters. That became the theme. If there is no predominance of any person, … Continue reading

However, there are a slew of other ways you can preserve and display the images snapped during these special occasions. Here are just a few: FAMILY TREE Typically during a family reunion, each clan poses for a portrait. However, instead of filing away each shot, consider displaying them … Continue reading
