Celebrating Life

Have you noticed a growing trend in funerals these days? Many of them are being referred to as “Celebrations of Life.” For the loved ones, who are left behind to grieve the unspeakable loss, remembering the good times shared with the deceased is often more comforting than focusing on death. My beloved grandmother passed away last year. However, hers was a life well lived and should continue to be celebrated, which is why I have started crafting a scrapbook dedicated to memorable milestones during her earthly journey. I plan to give the book to my daughter and share it with … Continue reading

Title Work

Remember my article, “Picking a Title for Your Scrapbook Layout“? If you missed it, check it out for a few ideas on how to get creative with picking your titles for your layouts. I love a good title. For example, many times, I choose titles that just come to me when I’m looking at my pictures. A while back, I did a layout that is still on … Continue reading

What’s Your Inspiration?

What inspires your scrapbook layouts? For most people, photos are the driving force behind page designs. However, I am a sucker for embellishments and on more than one occasion I have designed entire layouts around specific stickers and stamps. For example, this summer I found an adorable set of Jolee’s stickers with a BBQ theme. I fell in love with the 3D stickers shaped like mini beef and vegetable kabobs, as well as one in shape of a grill and others in shape of tall glasses of lemonade. Up until seeing the package of stickers I never considered creating a … Continue reading

I don’t know what it was like for you in your neck of the woods this past weekend, but our area was absolutely beautiful and was the closest resemblance to Spring that we’ve had since last year. Remember to make time for it, while still enjoying the beautiful weather. Here is what has been … Continue reading

Scrapbooking Layouts with No Journaling

Creating layouts with your photographs is definitely the point of scrapbooking. Having a scrapbook page or layout with no journaling goes against everything I teach, but sometimes it happens and sometimes a photograph speaks for itself. So how do you go about telling a story with only a photograph, and no journaling? To begin with, think outside the normal scrapbooking box. Get creative with your layout, choose embellishments that might help to tell a story. For instance, a close up of your four year old in Hawaii could be enlarged and placed on a page all on its own. Use … Continue reading

Assembling a Basic Tool Kit

Every scrapbooker should have a basic tool kit where they store all the essential supplies that they need for a scrapbooking session. However, the types and brands of the items that fill the kit, will be different for every single scrapbooker. Here are what a typical basic tool kit contains and what to keep them in. First, you need to figure out what you want to put your items in. Many scrapbookers use a tackle box or utility box, however I prefer some type of clear container. This allows you to see inside so you know exactly what you have. … Continue reading
