No Computer = Clean House

! Last week I was without a computer for six long days. I didn’t realize how much of my time was spent in front of this electronic box, until it was gone. The first day I wandered the house, looking for something to do. I found myself, picking up, straightening up and before I knew it I was cleaning the house from top to bottom. To say it needed it would be an understatement and now that it’s done, I can’t believe the difference. My house wasn’t insanely dirty, but it had gotten out of control. Between working, writing and … Continue reading

Overhaul Your Scrapbook Space

Part of my New Year’s ritual is to purge my home of unwanted and unnecessary goods. I’m not big into New Year’s resolutions, but this annual pre-spring cleaning ceremony comes pretty close to the formal promises people make at the beginning of a new year. I take one room or fraction of a room at a time. The process takes a few weeks, but by the time I am done my home is much more organized. Currently, I am working on overhauling my scrapbooking space. I don’t think there is a right or wrong way to organize your space. After … Continue reading

Scrappy Blog Mania

A few years ago when I was scrapping a ton, scrapbook blogs weren’t all that popular. Maybe they were, and I just didn’t know it because I didn’t have a blog myself at the time. But, now that I currently run 4 blogs, aside from writing here, I have blogging on my mind. Big surprise huh? The thing that has amazed me is that in the year or so that I took off from scrapbooking after my 2nd child was born, it seems the scrapbooking blogging world exploded. When I am on message boards, and forums, everyone is promoting their … Continue reading

Scrap a Header for Your Blog

There are so many people out there with scrapbooking blogs. Hundreds. I would venture to say there are thousands. The web is amazing. Many of these blogs are for sharing layouts, creating challenges, starting up a scrapbooking business, or a mix of scrapbooking and personal blogging. Whatever your scrapbook blog might be, you can add some personality to it by scrapping your own header for your blog. I have used free templates for my blog that you can find all over the web, but I was never quite happy with how they looked. But, I didn’t want to have to … Continue reading

Letters for Your Kid’s Room

Scrapbooking often seeps over into our everyday lives. When we are really in a scrapping mode, and making tons of new layouts, and have a fountain of creativity flowing, we can see scrapbooking in everything! At one such time in my life, on was on the hunt for some cute wooden letters to hang in my son’s bedroom. I was having a hard time finding some that fit with his nursery decor, that still were semi-masculine. It is a very popular trend now to hang letters in a child’s room that spell out their name. I had that in my … Continue reading

Clean House in Your Scrapbook Space

There are times when I feel like, “Why do I have all this stuff?” While I appreciate my craft and all that it contributes to my life, sometimes I look at my scrap room and think, “Should I give it all away?” I never feel like I should stop scrapbooking, but sometimes, I think it is a good idea to clean house and get rid of some things. It can help you re-focus on your scrapbooking, analyze what supplies you really need, and get back into it again. This is a really good idea if you’ve been feeling like you’re … Continue reading

My Personal Scrap Space – Analyzing the Problem

It was agonizing deciding whether or not to share pictures with you of my messy scrapbook area in the awful state it is. Or just waiting to show you pictures of once it was picked up and a clean scrapbook area again. When you work in your scrapbook area or studio every single day and you are involved in lots of projects, it becomes harder and harder to get things put away. Unless of course you follow the advice I have been providing all along and you don’t do what I actually did. Let’s take a look again at the … Continue reading

My Personal Scrap Space

Every scrapbooker dreams of having their own space to sit and create. Some are lucky enough to have a dedicated space, and some have to be content to use closets, share rooms or simply pull it out every time they wish to scrap. Once upon a time, in a land far away. Okay, well only about two and a half years ago and not really so far away, about two miles up the road. I lived in a house where I truly had my own dedicated scrap space. It was spare bedroom and I had it painted all pretty and … Continue reading
