How to Write a Love Note

When’s the last time you wrote your loved one a love note? If it’s been a while, you might want to consider taking some time today to do it. It’s Love Note Day after all! “Sounds nice, but I don’t know how to write a love note.” Of course you do! It’s as simple as finding a piece of paper, a pen, and simply scrawling “I love you” across it and giving it to your spouse, boyfriend/girlfriend, or significant other. “That’s it?” Hey, you want simple, I’ll give you simple. But if you want to dress it up a bit, … Continue reading

The Single Fantasy

National Singles Week runs from September 15-21. This year the National Singles Association is hosting events in Atlanta from September 17 thru 23. Unmarried America is also celebrating singles during the same time period, with what they call National Unmarried and Single Americans Week. “Why the fascination with Singles Week, Courtney? I thought you were happily married? And didn’t you just celebrate an anniversary?” Yes, I am happily married and, yes, we did just celebrate an anniversary, our 12th in fact. But sometimes I have this fantasy of what it would be like to be footloose and fancy free… The … Continue reading

Being a Responsible Dog Owner

Today is Responsible Dog Ownership Day, which I believe was started by the American Kennel Club. If you live in or near New York City or Raleigh, North Carolina you might already be aware of the AKC events schedule there today. But those won’t be the only ones. According to the AKC website, last year over 350 clubs and organizations held Responsible Dog Ownership Day events. The AKC has a link on their website where you can select your state to find events near you. The purpose is to educate pet parents on all manner of thing with events like: … Continue reading

Psst, Husbands…Saturday’s Wife Appreciation Day

I swear I’m not making days up just so you have to buy your wife yet another gift. There really is such a thing as Wife Appreciation Day and it’s celebrated on September 15. Which, if you consult a calendar, you’ll see is Saturday. “That’s only two days away! How am I going to find time to get a gift for my wife by then?” Simmer down now. No need to panic. You’re missing the key word, and thus the point, of the day: appreciation. It’s not about extravagant gifts. It’s about showing her how much you value all those … Continue reading

Subliminal Communication 101: How to Manipulate Mates and Influence Lovers

In addition to September’s designation as Pleasure Your Mate Month, it’s also Subliminal Communications Month. “What does that have to do with marriage?” you may be wondering. Manipulation, pure and simple. Ah, but before you go judging and thinking manipulation is a bad thing, wait. Sure, manipulation has been put to many a dark use, but it is not inherently evil. Quite the contrary. Why I Use It Wayne would tell you I’ve almost mastered the fine art of manipulation. I will admit he’s right. I’ve had a good apprenticeship, though. It started in college, as part of my major … Continue reading

Feel the Love Day: How I’m Celebrating

September 7th is Feel the Love Day. It also happens to be my husband’s birthday. Naturally Wayne’s important to me and a birthday is prime time for making him feel loved. But this year I’m actually under the gun to show the love. Last year I didn’t do very good when it came to his birthday. He definitely wasn’t feeling the love. I don’t exactly remember why I was less than stellar last year when it came to celebrating Wayne’s birthday, but I remember I was. And what made it worse was Wayne has the worst luck when it comes … Continue reading

Murphy, Kitty, and Tabby: In Pursuit of the Perfect Birthday Card for Papa

Today is Feel the Love Day. It also happens to be Wayne’s birthday, which is one of the three times of year Team Pryor feels the heat to show their captain how much we revere him. And do we feel the heat! (Refer to Murphy, Kitty, and Tabby’s Dilemma: What to Get Wayne for Father’s Day.) Well, in an unusual move for me, I waited until the last second to get birthday cards. I don’t know what I was thinking. I thought I had them, but I didn’t. I think I had seen some a couple of months back, but … Continue reading

Pleasure Your Mate Month: Come to Your Senses

The month of September marks a lot of strange holidays and events, among them Pleasure Your Mate Month. Have you stopped to think about pleasuring your mate recently? What about the level of intimacy in your marriage or how to make your marriage sexier? Sex and marriage is a tricky –sometimes touchy (no pun intended)—- topic, but it’s important to keep a marriage sensual. But it’s also hard. Kids, work, schedules, deadlines, chores…they all conspire to suck the sexy out of marriage. There isn’t always enough time in the day, or energy at the end of one, to tend to … Continue reading
