Bullet Point Journaling

Are you looking for a new way to add your written or typed words to a scrapbook page and add a bit of flair at the same time? Consider using bullet point journaling as a method to tell your story or explain the information you want to provide on your layouts. It is a quick and easy way to journal, and it looks great. Bullet point journaling allows you to make lists instead of having to write any type of story or think about how you want to word something. At the same time, it can still be sure to … Continue reading

The Importance of First Impressions

We all know how important first impressions are in the business world, but the phrase is just as relevant in the world of scrapbooking. The cover of a scrapbook speaks volumes for what’s inside the album and the person responsible for crafting it. Fortunately, there are no hard and fast rules that dictate how you have to put together a scrapbook cover; however, there are a number of popular techniques that make wonderful first impressions. For example, one of my favorite ways to decorate a scrapbook cover is with a photo collage. This is a great option if you are … Continue reading

Covers That Shine

How much time do you spend coming up with clever covers for your scrapbook? Many times the cover design is an afterthought, especially for me. Often, I am so focused on crafting memorable layouts that I completely overlook the importance of an attractive cover. Recently, though, I have been putting more effort into beautifying my album covers. Of course, this only happened because I saw a display table at my local scrapbook store covered with incredibly innovative scrapbook covers. The owner of the store set out five different memory albums, each featuring a journaling list cover. Whereas I have drafted … Continue reading

Ways to Save on Holiday Scrapbooking

Don’t blow your budget buying every seasonal scrapbooking embellishment you lay your eyes on. While the fantastically festive items are tempting to purchase, you can find slews of holiday-themed scrapbooking supplies for practically nothing if you simply take the time to surf the World Wide Web. For example, several websites offer free Christmas fonts for use on holiday layouts. Check out Fonts and Things, The Holiday Spot, Font River, Font Space and 1001 Free Fonts, and then use them to design your own customized Christmas scrapbook paper. You can either repeat a saying or quote in the font of your … Continue reading

Give Thanks for Free Embellishments

A few days ago I saw the most gorgeous Thanksgiving bouquet of vibrant sunflowers, royal lilies, button poms, gerbera daisies, alstroemeria, and mums. Only I didn’t get it to place at the center of my Turkey Day buffet; rather, I am using an image of the floral arrangement on a holiday scrapbook layout. The beautiful bouquet was part of a graphics package I found online for free. The clip art flowers didn’t cost me a dime, though they look like a million bucks on my page design. If you are looking for cheap ways to fill your Thanksgiving, Christmas or … Continue reading

Photo-Filled Layouts

I got into scrapbooking because I wanted to create fancy photo albums. In fact, to this day, I am more about the pictures than I am the embellishments. Initially, I was reluctant to make the move from filing photos in a traditional album to crafting books with journaling blocks, bullet point lists and mountains of stickers, stamps and glitter. I didn’t want the frills to detract from my photos. What’s more, I really wasn’t keen on the idea that some scrapbook layouts only featured a single image on the entire page. Fortunately, I had a phenomenal mentor, who showed me … Continue reading

Sticky Situation

When it comes to scrapbooking, I am all about the stickers. Not only are scrapbook stickers extremely versatile, but they are also super easy to use and the varieties are practically limitless. What’s more, for me, they often act as the inspiration for an entire layout. I have long been a fan of Jolee’s Boutique stickers. I don’t use them exclusively, but due to their massive selection, I would estimate that 95 percent of my page designs include at least a few stickers by Jolee’s. The brand is manufactured by EK Success, which is a household name in the world … Continue reading
