Budget Friendly Innovative Scrapbook Supply Storageby Nicole Humphrey | More from this Blogger 12 Apr 2007 07:25 AM
Over the past twelve years that I have been scrapbooking, I have accumulated a lot of supplies, and I have had to find storage methods for everything along the way. I often look right in my own home for innovative ways to store my items. A couple of years ago, I came across an old dishwasher basket. Since then, I have probably added a half dozen to my scrapbook area for all types of supplies. Although everyone has one in their dishwasher, you would probably like that one to keep washing your silverware, so don't remove it. But, what do you do instead? Where are you going to get one? First, keep a watch out at garage sales, flea markets and other places. I have seen them at a lot of them, and have purchased several. You might ask around to friends and family to see if anyone is replacing a dishwasher or has an extra one somewhere in the garage or basement. You can also purchase them from stores that carry replacement parts, and they are pretty inexpensive. What scrapbook supplies should you store in your dishwasher basket? Anything and everything. I use them for almost anything that fits.
You might also consider using them for card making, rubber stamping and any other crafts you might dabble in. Oh, and they make great utensil storage (of course) for picnics, as well as next to the stove for cooking. I use a door-hanging shoe rack to hold all of my scissors. I have a small hardware (like nuts and bolts) organizer to hold my brads and eyelets. And I have magazine files to hold my scraps of still usable paper. I'm going out to find dishwasher racks to tack up on my wall to hold my pens. Thanks for the idea. Apparently they did not move over from the other server when we did the move. I will go back and edit them today, so that they appear there. I do the same thing that you do my crop room, I use all sorts of strange things to hold my supplies - usually non-scrapbook items. Hope you find a dishwasher caddy. You'll be glad you did! Pam Connell (2658) 19 Apr 2007 12:43 AMWhen I went away to college I opened my suitcase to find that my mom had tucked in various toiletries--packed in her old dishwasher basket! It was actually perfect because I could haul everything to the communal dorm showers and water drained out of it instead of accumulating. Nicole Humphrey (15757) 01 May 2007 08:55 AMPam, they are great for everything! You can certainly use them in more locations than just a craft/scrapbook room! We've used several all over our home for various items. They are great when you have five kids, as toothbrush holders and bathroom supply corrals! Combs, brushes, even small bottles of soap and stuff, fit inside! Community Tags organization, organizing, scrapbook organizing, Scrapbooking, storage, scrapbooking storage Discuss this article
