Scrapbooking Made Easy

My mother is the first to admit that she is a dinosaur when it comes to technology. To say that she doesn’t embrace computers or anything digital would be a severe understatement. Ironically, for as much as my mom abhors high-tech gadgets, she absolutely loves the idea of digital scrapbooks. In fact, she is borderline obsessed with digital photo books, which are essentially affordable scrapbooks that you make online. You’ve likely seen the albums advertised on various photography and scrapbooking websites. They feature a variety of prefabricated templates that make scrapping an entire book a breeze. To design the pages … Continue reading

New Year’s Layouts That Pop

My 7-year-old is obsessed with those plastic New Year’s Eve party poppers. Pull a little string and you’re treated to an explosion of paper confetti and a computer-generated fortune–depending on where the favors were made. The ones my daughter has been playing with were clearly made in China… but I digress. When it comes to making your New Year’s scrapbook layout pop, consider adding bits of wisdom and inspiration from your favorite celebrities. For example: “Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right.” –Oprah Winfrey “An optimist stays up until midnight to see the … Continue reading

Disney Scrapbooking Supplies

I have a friend or two who LOVE Disney. I would say that I like it as well. Who doesn’t? But, there are people that are obsessed with Disney. They are the ones that have season passes to Disneyland, or Disney World, and are also obsessed with all things Disney. I mean, who doesn’t love Mickey Mouse? I have a little girl, and I’m dying to take her to Disneyland next year for her 5th birthday. Although, I would not say that I’m a Disney die hard, the one time I have been to Disneyland, the minute I walked through … Continue reading

A Monthly Baby Layout

Some of my most precious pages that I have scrapbooked are of my children. I want to do an album of each of my kids’ first year of life to give to them one day. In those albums, I like to do a monthly layout about my child and what they are doing at that time. I always title the page, with the month that I am scrapbooking. For example, 1 month, 2 months, 3 months, etc. One of my all-time favorite layouts was one I did of my daughter when she was 9 months old. I do not always … Continue reading

Are You Obsessed with Scrapbooking?

So, when you are absolutely obsessed with scrapbooking, you realize it almost daily. I decided that I was going to take a week or so break for creating any new layouts. Last month, I participated in several scrapbooking challenges online, and had a good time doing it. But, that was also time consuming for me. I love getting the feedback on my own layouts, and getting to see the creativity of others’ too. But, it was a lot of work. So, thus the needed vacation. But, then tragedy struck. I bought more supplies. And, you know what that means….when you … Continue reading

Making Your Own Embellishments

As most people these days, I am always trying to stretch my dollar. This is something that I try to do in my scrapbooking too. As I have mentioned before, you don’t need a lot of “stuff” to have cute scrapbook pages. I think about who coined the term scrapbooking. Do you know? I don’t. But, when I think of the word scrap, I think it must have been someone that knew the value of saving every little scrap of their crafting supplies, and still creating something beautiful. That is really what we do as scrapbookers. I save every little … Continue reading

Scrapbooking for Others: Pricing Albums and Layouts

Not everyone is as obsessed with scrapbooking as some of us are. With that being said, it is important to remember that it might not be because they don’t want to be, or they don’t want nice albums to look at and share with their families. For whatever reason, not all people are into our hobby. The good news is, that it enables us to provide our services to them and create layouts and albums for them for a fee. The question I am asked most often by those looking to get paid for their scrapbooking efforts is “How much … Continue reading
