Arccivo

ArccivoAs most of you know, I love discovering new and innovative products to use in my scrapbooks, or for scrapbooking in general. I tend to constantly be on the look out for anything and everything that can be incorporated into our hobby. However, once in awhile, a product slips by, that completely amazes me. Thus is the case with Arccivo, a new product designed specifically for scrapbookers.

A new friend brought the product to my attention, (thank you Ruby) and I was impressed from the very start. I immediately called another friend, who owns a scrapbook store and asked if she had seen or used the product. She said she has both seen it, and heard of it. She does not own one, but she said she knew someone that did, and the Arccivo has been getting sensational reviews, even from people who have not actually tried the product out.

Arccivo is still in it's pre-ordering stages according to the website, which I found strange, since the website release date is December of 2005 and my friend knows someone who has one. It shows that Arccivo was featured in the Creating Keepsakes Top Ten issue in January of 2006, which I promptly confirmed, and then was released at the CHA 2006 Lands Television Show. Regardless of what the website says, I believe it can be purchased now.

The Arccivo is a portable work surface that literally allows you to freeze a scrapbook page in the middle of working on it, ready to pick up again whenever time allows. The website demo shows the ease of how to use this product, and it honestly looks like a winner in my book. What other product let's you design a page at a crop, and not glue it down before leaving? How perfect!

Designed by three fellow scrapbookers, Deborah, Mary and Pam, who wanted more work space, and a place to keep everything right where you want it for the next time, the Arccivo is both new and innovative which are two traits I love in a scrapbooking product.

Arccivo receives five stars or two thumbs up from me. I am quite eager to get one, though the steep price advertised on their site, might keep me from getting one for awhile. Visit their website for more information.

Hey Nicole, You move quick! I'm really glad you liked the look of this folder/portfolio; I think it is just a great idea to have the magnetic overlay to hold your layouts in place for transportation - or if like me you take over the dining room table and need to make a quick getaway at dinner time! If you get one, do let us know how you get on. I haven't seen them in Australia, and I think the cost to ship one over would be a bit too prohibitive. They will probably get an Aussie distributer in the next 5 years or so! :) Cheers, Ruby

Hey Nicole! I wanted to thank you for your Arccivo review! I am on the Arccivo development team and wanted to fill you in on some more Arccivo details.

First, the Arccivo is being developed as part of a new PBS show called Everyday Edisons (http://www.everydayedisons.com) which will begin airing nationwide this coming May. In a nutshell, the show takes the inventions of 14 ordinary people with extraordinary ideas and helps them bring their products to market, documenting the product design process along the way. Everybody has thought of a life-changing invention, but few know what to do with their idea. The goal of the show is to educate and inspire our viewers on what comes next. The inventors of the Arccivo are Pam, Mary and Deborah - great scrapbooking friends.

On the outdated Web site... We built the Web site in December of 2005 when our first prototypes were complete. An updated version will be going live later this week. We took the prototypes to the 2006 Craft & Hobby Association show in Vegas last January and got so much great feedback that we started over.

The first Arccivo was really great. The second generation Arccivo is awesome! It took a lot more focus group and performance testing - we even developed some new patented technology along the way. Arccivo is now in production and will begin shipping in late January. We are taking pre-orders on the Web site and will ship based on the order in which they were placed (shameless plug: put in your order now to ensure you are part of the first shipment!). FYI, the photos and demo on the site reflect the final, production Arccivo.

We are so excited about the product and believe it is going to revolutionize the scrapbooking community. As a matter of fact, when we brought in a scrapbooking expert to review the product on the show (Donna Downey), she fell in love with it and is now raving about it on her blog! She says it has completely changed the way she scrapbooks forever. If you would like to find out more about how Donna is using it, check out: http://donnadowney.typepad.com/simply_me/2007/01/everyday_edison.html.

Thanks again for the great review! Let me know if you have any other questions about the Arccivo! Watch for the updated Web site later this week.

Cheers! Matt from Arccivo
