Album in a Weekend

Creating an album in a weekend, is much easier than completing an album in a day. Some scrapbookers spend most of their time dedicating themselves to getting an entire album done in one single weekend. Sometimes this is because their schedules are so busy that they only have time to scrapbook on the weekends. Other times it is because that particular scrapbooker works best when they are organized and keep everything simple and clean. Tips to completing an album in one weekend: Papers and cardstock, as well as added embellishments should be kept simple, and only two or three colors … Continue reading

Celebrity Weekend Weddings

It’s been a busy weekend for the Hanson family. Make that a busy year. Taylor Hanson, who wed in 2002, welcomed a third child with his wife Natalie last month. Younger brother, Zac, married his longtime girlfriend, Kate Tucker, in June. And just yesterday, the oldest Hanson brother, Isaac married his longtime girlfriend, Nicole Dufresne, in Oklahoma. (I bet their parents heads are still spinning.) According to PEOPLE magazine, 25-year-old Hanson and his 22-year-old bride wed in a traditional ceremony at the Philbrook Museum of Art in Hanson’s hometown of Tulsa. The Hanson brothers, who formed the music group Hanson … Continue reading

Maximize Your Cropping Adventures

Organized scrapbooking crops are not cheap. However, the memories you can make at them are priceless, which is why it pays to experience at least one or two in your lifetime. In order to make the most of your cropping weekend adventure, it’s important to get organized, so you don’t waste precious time while you are surrounded by inspirational scrappers. Remember to pack your papers, embellishments, adhesives and tools. In addition, you may want to bring along a cushion to sit on. Some crops offer comfortable ergonomic chairs with padded seats, while others simply provide metal folding or banquet chairs. … Continue reading

Taylor Swift and Conor Kennedy Split

Taylor Swift and her most recent boyfriend, Conor Kennedy, have reportedly parted ways. It seemed this summer, 22-year-old Swift and 18-year-old Kennedy (son of Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.) were all over the eastern coast, evoking memories of a young John and Jackie Kennedy. Despite the fact that the mega superstar singer was gearing up for her new album release and he was gearing up for his senior year in high school, the beautiful couple seemed to define teenage summer love. They were holding hands at a pizza restaurant, kissing in public, and in a most Kennedy-like way, seen on a … Continue reading

Memorable Memorial Day Layouts

For most people, the long Memorial Day weekend means picnics, road trips and beach time with friends and family. While cookouts and camaraderie are memorable components of the holiday, the real reason for the three-day weekend has to do with hard work and heroes. Thanks to the men and women, who comprise this country’s military, we are able to enjoy a litany of freedoms. Their selflessness and bravery should be honored, and there’s no better way to do so than with a scrapbook layout or an entire memory album. Fortunately, you don’t have to be an advanced scrapper to design … Continue reading

Decorate with Words

Spring is right around the corner, which means wedding season is about to begin. There are a number of wedding shows scheduled in my neck of the woods this weekend. No doubt there will be at least a few scrapbook vendors hawking their wares in an attempt to show brides-to-be how they can showcase their wedding photos in elaborate memory albums. My wedding scrapbook is quite fancy, thanks in large part to my aunt and cousin. They worked tirelessly to craft the entire book. While the photos speak for themselves, one of the most touching parts of the album are … Continue reading

Doing Disney

Last weekend our neighbors piled into their van and drove more than 80 miles to see Disney on Ice: Treasure Trove. The live ice-skating extravaganza features costumed characters from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, Mulan, and Tangled. I know this without having to shell out $50 a ticket to see the performance myself, because my scrapbook fiend neighbor snapped more than 100 photos of the show and has about half of them already displayed in a Disney-themed memory album. Personally, … Continue reading

Christmas Tree Traditions

If your family celebrates Christmas, chances are that your family photo albums have many pictures of your family’s Christmas trees throughout the years. Each family that gets a Christmas tree for their home every year has a slightly different ritual for doing so, too. When I was younger, my parents would usually get a tree in mid – November. We had a wood stove in the room where we would put the tree, so getting it earlier was not really an option because the stove would dry the tree out and result in needles all over the floor. Some years … Continue reading
