Over 40 Holiday-Themed Scrapbook Title Ideas

“Holiday Hoopla” is the title of a scrapbook layout I made last year.  It features photos of three generations of my family cooking together.  I was going to use “Organized Chaos,” but decided to go with the seasonal title instead. Coming up with page titles is a passion for some scrapbookers, while others see it as a pain.  I like to ponder page titles while I am figuring out the placement of my photos, memorabilia and embellishments.  Often, a title will pop into my head as I survey all of the materials I am featuring on the layout.  However, … Continue reading

Crafting Reunion Scrapbooks

Summer is primetime for reunions. Whether you are attending an annual family get-together or that all-important 20th high school reunion, the special moments shared at the events can be treasured for years to come by crafting a scrapbook. If you are just getting started with scrapbooking and are looking to create an album to store all the precious memories made and shared at your summer reunion, my best tip: Keep it simple. Avoid trying to bite off more than you can chew, otherwise your memory album will end up looking like a mish mash of odds and ends. The trick … Continue reading

Scrapbooking Seasonal Smiles

Mom, can I have a dog for Christmas? No, you’ll be getting turkey like everyone else. What did Adam say on the day before Christmas? It’s Christmas, Eve. Birthday Scrapbooks Preserve Exciting Memories

Everyone loves birthdays, especially when the guest of honor is a young child. Proud parents are likely to have pages and pages of pictures of their little ones’ parties from that all important first birthday and onward. As a family history enthusiast, it may be nice to pull together a collection of birthday pictures and stories from a group of individuals, such as all of the cousins on one side of the family. Whether for a group or an individual, a birthday scrapbook containing pictures and stories from their parties over a span of years is sure to be a … Continue reading

Domestic Violence Hurts Everyone

Tonight while working on my scrapbooking, I pulled out a picture that instantly brought tears to my eyes, and terror to my heart. Twelve years ago, my mother had to place her husband in a care facility. He had been in a car accident, sustained dementia, and had become abusive to the point of holding a gun on her and threatening her life. After she placed him, she asked me and my little family to come live with her. I moved in, bringing my husband, my little daughter, and my very pregnant belly. Her husband figured out a way to … Continue reading

Scrappy Blog Mania

A few years ago when I was scrapping a ton, scrapbook blogs weren’t all that popular. Maybe they were, and I just didn’t know it because I didn’t have a blog myself at the time. But, now that I currently run 4 blogs, aside from writing here, I have blogging on my mind. Big surprise huh? The thing that has amazed me is that in the year or so that I took off from scrapbooking after my 2nd child was born, it seems the scrapbooking blogging world exploded. When I am on message boards, and forums, everyone is promoting their … Continue reading

A Scrapbook of Thankfulness

One of my favorite things to do around Thanksgiving is research into different ways we can incorporate a spirit of thankfulness in my home. I have heard of all kinds of ideas, such as having a jar available where everyone in the family can write on a scrap of paper why they are thankful for another family member. Some families when they gather for their Thanksgiving meal will go around the table and express what they are thankful for. There are really so many ideas and I wish I could use them all. However I have scrapbooking on my mind. … Continue reading

Extra Special Scrapbook Pages

I suppose all scrapbook pages are relatively special, otherwise they wouldn’t be created. However, today I witnessed the makings of an extra special scrapbook page with hair as its theme. Last year my friend’s daughter decided to grow out her hair so that she could eventually donate it to the Locks of Love organization. The public non-profit group provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children, who suffer from long-term illnesses. After nearly 10 months of diligent maintenance and few, if any haircuts, my friend’s daughter lopped off more than a foot of tresses for kids she has never met. The momentous … Continue reading

Quotes for Your Halloween Scrapbook Page

As you get your little goblins, ghouls, princesses, cheerleaders, puppies, and pirates ready for this Halloween don’t forget the camera! This is one night you will want for the scrapbook. Here are some great quotes for this time theme: “Too cute to spook, but not to sweet to trick or treat”! A grandmother pretends she doesn’t know who you are on Halloween. A Renaissance faire is just an excuse to wear funny clothing and run amok. A spooking we will go! A Spooky Good Time At first cock-crow the ghosts must go Back to their quiet graves below. ~Theod… Double, … Continue reading

Scrapbooking is Supposed to Be Fun!

Do you ever feel bogged down by your scrapbooking? I do. Sometimes I look at all those photos, or I think about how behind I am already, and I just say, “What is the point?”. On those days, I don’t scrapbook. Shocker, I know. But, what IS the point if you are not inspired? What IS the point if you are not having fun? We could easily put our photos in your normal photo albums and look at them at our leisure, but in my opinion, the whole point of scrapbooking is to have fun creating a memory that you … Continue reading
