Make Scrapbooking Easier – Scrapbooking with a Twist

Did you know that you don’t need to purchase loads of scrapbook supplies, expensive papers and embellishments and pricey albums with page protectors, just to scrapbook. There is a much simpler way for those that truly wish to simplify their scrapbooking projects, but still wish to be creative and show off their photos. So how in the world is that supposed to work? When you are ready to get started you will need a slip-in photo album that looks similar to the one pictured above. Slip-in sleeves can be purchased in white, silver and black. You can also use clear … Continue reading

How to Get Your Scrap Space More Organized

There is nothing more inspiring than sitting down to scrapbook in an organized space. However, for most there isn’t much organization or storage that is working. Everyday new products come out to help us get more organized, but the problem is they aren’t always cost effective and we those products don’t work for everyone. Look around your scrap space and make a checklist of what is working for you and what doesn’t seem to be working. A lot of the stuff that isn’t working is probably not working for one of two reasons. The number one reason the method is … Continue reading

Why Scrapbooking Makes Me Happy

Since I was very young, I can always remember needing a creative outlet in which to express myself. Before it was scrapbooking it was stamping, and before it was stamping it was arts and crafts. Even from a really young age, I can remember being enthralled with the idea of saving memories and making myself relive them over and over again. I can remember making ‘books’ as I called them, with magazine cut-outs and photographs and words and journaling and cool pictures and drawings. That wasn’t just a book. It was the beginning of a scrapbook. Albeit not a very … Continue reading

My Personal Space – Houston, I Think I Found a Problem

Today I was supposed to show you my scrap room, and I actually could. I worked really hard to get things sorted, picked up and put away organized instead of just in a huge pile, or shoved in various drawers and other spots. The whole area is cleaner, brighter and definitely less cluttered. It actually looks great. Except for one problem. Those pesky wood mounted rubber stamps I bought at a local sale. I already had a huge stash that literally claim an entire Iris cart, and while someday I plan to unmount them because storage is just simpler that … Continue reading

My Personal Scrap Space – Analyzing the Problem – The Other Side

It would surprise me if by now you haven’t seen my earlier post regarding the mess in my scrap space and what my intentions are to fix it. All of that is in the process of being completed, but I thought since I am sharing my work in progress tomorrow, I would share the other side of the area today too. So here is the other side: Much, MUCH worse. That’s of course because it is the most often used side of my scrapbook area. It is where I write from every single day. It is where I close up … Continue reading

My Personal Scrap Space – Analyzing the Problem

It was agonizing deciding whether or not to share pictures with you of my messy scrapbook area in the awful state it is. Or just waiting to show you pictures of once it was picked up and a clean scrapbook area again. When you work in your scrapbook area or studio every single day and you are involved in lots of projects, it becomes harder and harder to get things put away. Unless of course you follow the advice I have been providing all along and you don’t do what I actually did. Let’s take a look again at the … Continue reading

My Personal Scrap Space – The Mess

At the end of May, I told you I would begin showing you my scrapbook area in a more personal way, so you could see the studio where I work, and see how I organize and store things. Sometimes it is nice to get a glimpse into the life of another scrapbooker and see how they do things. I believe it can help to see an organizational system that works, so you can implement it too. So here it is the middle of June and I haven’t bothered to show you any more of my space. Why is that? Because … Continue reading

Marker and Pen Storage and Organization

Markers, pens, colored pencils, gel pens and all types of writing materials are used in scrapbooking. They are sometimes used for journaling, doodling, drawing, coloring or other techniques. So when you are faced with so many different writing tools, how and where do you store them? A small piece of advice: Always store your markers and pens horizontally and not vertically. When a marker or pen is stored vertically it causes all the ink to collect at one end of the pen. Storing them horizontally is always a better option as it keeps the ink more evenly distributed. Here are … Continue reading

Paper Storage and Organization Tips

Paper is what most scrapbookers have the most of in their stash. There are two different types that need to be stored and organized – patterned paper and cardstock. In between those are the specialty papers like mulberry, velvet, vellum and others. So how does one go about organizing and storing their paper? There are two methods of storage; vertical and horizontal. There isn’t one way that works better than the next, it is a personal choice and a space issue. If you have nowhere to store your paper, than you are a bit flexible in how you achieve the … Continue reading

Ink Pad Storage and Organization

Stamp pads can accumulate quickly, with all the luscious colors out there, and all of the different companies. From one company alone I have 35 different colors, not to mention a variety of other stamp pads and types. So what do you do when the stamp pads add up and the way you are storing them isn’t working for you? Over the years I have seen lots of different storage methods, but my favorite by far is the way that I have them stored. The reason I love it so much is because it was a totally FREE item that … Continue reading
