5 Essential Organizing Tips For Scrapbooking Stuff

Organizing could almost be considered a hobby all on its own. Many people actually enjoy the process of organizing and seem to almost always have some project going at one time or another. I love to organize, especially when it comes down to my scrapbooking. Being able to find something fast is important as well as a prime key to my productivity.

Here are five scrapbooking tips to get you organized:

1. Paper Organization - There are multiple ways to store paper, but the ones that seem the most common and the easiest would be the following: cube shelving put together with zip ties to make paper trays, paper trays, magazine racks, and or shelving made just for paper storage. These of course range from cheap to inexpensive. Watch the scrapbooking blog for some "make your own" ideas coming soon.

2. Zip Lock Bags - Another great storage item. You can separate small embellishments in the snack sizes, paper in the larger ones, and on and on. If you have a peg board system, this works great or else you can use a basket or container to hold it all. File folders also work.

3. Glass Jars - Baby food jars, mason jars, you name the jar - it has a use. Tired of throwing away all those leftover jars from condiments and other things? Just wash them out thoroughly, air them out (so your embellishments don't smell like pickles) and store anything and everything that fits inside. It's nice too, because you can see right inside to find what you need everytime.

4. Envelopes - They come in every shape and size. Back when I first started scrapbooking I used to use mailing envelopes to store themed groups of items. I recently went back to doing that again with items that coordinate with each other. I would forget I had this embellishment or this paper and I figured out that if I store it all together in an envelope, it's right there for the taking. This is just like page kits.

5. Boxes, Baskets, Containers - They are all over your home. Some are cardboard and held oatmeal packets, some are cereal boxes or came with a pair of shoes, some might be something a gift came in and now you're left with an empty basket, and then of course those containers that seem to multiply and get thrown into storage. Grab them out, sort out your supplies and label them. Whether it's a basket, a bucket, a box or a plastic container, containerizing your supplies is a quick and easy way to store almost anything.
